One of my favorite items to order at Mcdonald’s is a Big Mac. It’s the best burger on the menu, in my opinion.
If you’ve never had a Big Mac, it’s a classic burger, sandwiched between a sesame seed bun. Its toppings include two beef patties, crispy lettuce, American cheese, onions, pickles, and most importantly, the “special sauce”. The burger is very juicy and tasty. My favorite part about the Big Mac is the sauce!
The only bad thing about this burger and its sauce is the amount of calories it contains. If you’re doing Weight Watchers, this original version has 18 WW points! What if I told you, you could indulge in a Big Mac for half the points?
This recipe was such a hit last time I shared it on Instagram, I wanted to show it again! I found a way to cut out a lot of fat/calories without being able to tell the difference. What was the biggest change? Replacing mayonnaise in the special sauce with Greek yogurt! Also, I’m using the 2-ingredient dough bun as a healthier alternative.
The Best Homemade Skinny Big Mac
Ingredients
Secret Sauce
- 1/3 cup Fage 0% Greek yogurt
- 1.5 tbsp Sweet Relish
- 1 tbsp Yellow Mustard
- 1 tsp Paprika
- 1.5 tsp Garlic Powder
- 1/4 tsp White Pepper
- 1/2 tbsp Ground Mustard
- 1 tsp Onion Powder
- 1 tbsp White Vinegar
Buns
- 1 cup Fage 0% Greek yogurt
- 1 cup Gold Medal Self-Rising Flour
- Egg Wash
- Sesame Seeds to sprinkle on top
Meat
- 1 lb Burger Meat divide into 8, 1/8lb thin patties
Toppings
- White Onion diced
- Lettuce diced
- Cheddar Cheese low fat
Instructions
- Make your secret sauce! Mix together all ingredients mentioned on the secret sauce list. This makes a TON of sauce, so you’ll be able to use it for a few weeks (keep it till the yogurt expires)
- Next, make the buns! Mix Greek yogurt with flour. Combine and cut into 4 equal parts if you can. Take each part and separate into 3 parts (2 smaller and 1 a bit bigger). Form your bottom, middle and top buns. Egg wash and sprinkle sesame seeds. Bake at 375 for 20 minutes and then broil for a few till golden.
- Cook the burgers. Divide burger meat into 8 thin patties. Cook on skillet until done. Set aside.
- Finally assemble! On your bottom bun, add half a tablespoon of secret sauce, a few diced white onions, diced lettuce, pickles and a slice of low fat cheddar cheese. Top with a burger and then add middle bun. Repeat the same steps but don’t add another piece of cheese. Top with the sesame seed topper!
Enjoy this beauty alongside some air fried French fries and you got yourself a drive thru fake out!
Love always,
