Growing up Jewish, I’ve enjoyed a variety of delicious dishes a lot of my non-jewish friends haven’t experienced. Passover is one of those holidays filled with lots of cultural foods and I’m always shocked when someone tells me they’ve never tried Matzah balls, Matzah brei or even Matzah in general!
That’s when I realized I TOTALLY need to share this family recipe for my Matzah Brei with you guys! It’s a great introduction to Matzah and one of my favorite breakfast dishes to have during passover (or any time of the year). I sometimes have a hard time finding matzah in stores out of “season”, but Peapod ALWAYS has it. Plus, they deliver it right to my door, which make things even better.

All you need to make it is 5 simple ingredients. Matzo, water, egg and salt.
Just whisk the eggs.
Rinse matzo under the sink and break them up into the egg
Cook in butter
And enjoy!
My favorite part of this matzah brei is the garnish! I’ve heard of people adding cream cheese or jam to top their matzah brei, but I’m usually partial to cream cheese. I added blackberry jam this time and WOW, it took it to a whole new level! What would you top your matzah brei with?
