A few weeks ago, I found out rather suddenly that we needed to have our floors replaced and needed to be out of our house for 10 days. Two years ago, before Elia was born, this would have been super simple. Now, with my daughter involved, being displaced is much more difficult than it normally is.
We travel a lot as a family, so on the surface, this situation was not much different. The main difference was length of time we’d be away and the need to stick to Elia’s schedule as much as possible while easing her into a new environment. As I was looking for hotels that could work for a long term stay, I found out the Swissotel in Chicago has an incredible duplex!
After looking into it a little further, I knew it was the perfect option (and boy was I right!) The team at Swissotel was AMAZING the entire time and pulled out all the stops for us in order to make our stay as comfortable and as “home like” as possible.
Here are 5 reasons you should stay at the Swissotel and recommend it to your out of town family when they visit Chicago:
-1-
It’s SUPER kid-friendly! Hands down, The Swissotel is the most kid friendly hotel I’ve ever stayed at! Just by booking the “Kid’s Suite Package”, our room came fully decked out with kid friendly décor, toys and all the types games. It also comes with a complimentary in-room movie and daily breakfast at The Palm Restaurant in their lobby. They even set Elia up with teepee to play in for the week! Although their are other smaller suites you can choose from, we ended up in the Skyline Duplex which was perfect for our extended stay.

The rooms are SO spacious! I wanted Elia to feel as comfortable as possible while we were away from home, and giving her space to play is the best way to put her at ease. The room we chose was a two-story, 1200 square foot loft style space. It has an insanely cool lofted bedroom, two bathrooms, a dining room, office, breakfast bar, wine bar and living room. The room also has the ability to connect to one king bedroom and two double bedroom (we chose this option for Elia) and can sleep up to 8 people.

This location is incredibly convenient. Since we live in Chicago already, it’s important for us to be close to all the things Elia loves to do on a normal daily basis. This includes going to the Children’s Museum, the library and her art classes. The Swissotel seriously is one of the most central locations in the city. You’re just over the River and only a few blocks from Navy Pier (where the museum is!) It’s also close to so many incredible restaurants and walkable to so many awesome attractions. It’s simply perfect!
-4-
It’s easy to stay on track health-wise. The holidays are probably the most difficult time to stick to a healthy schedule, but the Swissotel makes it so easy to be mindful and take back control of your health. Not only do they have in-room spa services (so you can totally zen out), but they have an incredible brand new fitness center that comes equipt with Peloton and dozens of other amazing machines. We would even hang out there at night with Elia because she had so much fun playing with the giant workout balls.
-5-
The Santa Suite! I couldn’t even make this list without including their incredible, seasonal, Santa Suite! Each year during the holidays the Swissotel converts their Presidential Suite into an over-the-top holiday Mecca. It’s adorned with 15 incredible Christmas Trees, an incredible room decked out with Santa’s chair and has so many other fun activities for everyone!

During our stay, the team at Swissotel transformed the space to a Chanukah Suite for our holiday party! It was SO much fun to celebrate in such a festive space with all the people I love most. We even had an awesome Chanukah inspired dinner with latkes, brisket and matzo ball soup! All the favorites!
All in all, we just loved our little staycation at the Swissotel. Truthfully, it’s the best second home we could’ve asked for! The team went above and beyond to make our stay magical and I hope you get a chance to stay with them soon!
They’ve even offered a promo code for 20% off your stay using code: PSOC. You can click here to book.
Love always,
