Let me set the stage for you…
It’s 1am the night before Thanksgiving. My family and I have been traveling to Boston all day and dealing with flight delays. We finally arrive at my in-laws, spent an hour calming down our 1-year old to get her to go to sleep. We crawl into the full-sized, guest bed and immediately, I have my husbands elbow digging into my side.
“Can you move over?”, I say.
“I’m hanging off the bed already!”, he says.
“Well then at least stop moving around so much!” I reply.
And the fight continues from there until finally, he gives up and sleeps on the floor.
I’d love to say that this was a one-off argument, but it’s been happening for years and has caused a lot of tension in my marriage because I always want to get a hotel when we visit his family. Now with the baby, a hotel isn’t even an option, so something had to change.
I’ve been asking his parents for years if they’d be willing to get a bigger bed in the guest room, but they told me it wasn’t possible because of the winding, tight stair case and low ceilings they have in their home. The only way to get a bigger bed upstairs would be to remove the windows and hire a company to lift it up 3 stories.
Apparently, despite me offering to pay for it, that wasn’t going to happen.
Finally, during this Thanksgiving trip, it hit me. What about a boxed mattress?! It is small enough to get up the stairs and I’ve actually heard really good things about the comfort level. When I asked my in-laws, they told me they wouldn’t be able to get a foundation upstairs either.
I was totally bummed but DETERMINED to find a solution. I contacted Spoon Sleep and they officially answered my prayers. They told me I could get two twin sized foundations and that would fit their king-sized mattress perfectly.
I had heard SO many good things about Spoon Sleep that I was so excited to learn it would work for my situation! With Elia getting older, we want to visit Boston a lot and a nice comfy bed will just make our lives so much easier. I went online just two weeks before Christmas, ordered the king-sized mattress and it was delivered to Boston just a week later.
The set-up was BEYOND easy and I actually took a fun, hyperlapse video of us doing it. From start to finish it only took about 5 minutes (and we made a mistake and put it down the wrong way). Take a look at the video!
Isn’t that amazing?
Not only was it SO easy to set-up, it was incredibly comfortable. Like, I’m actually considering getting rid of the $5,000 mattress we just bought and buying this one for my home. It’s THAT good. It all boils down to their incredible pillar foam technology. No matter your weight or body type, it helps align your back for the perfect nights sleep.
They actually have a cool geek hub on their site where you can learn all about the incredible technology that went into this mattress.
Bottom line, this mattress was a life saver in more ways than one and I couldn’t recommend it more. Now, I’m actually excited to travel back to Boston so I can sleep on this comfy bed again!
Love always,
Erica
