I’ve partnered up with Nature’s One, maker of Baby’s Only Organic Formula to tell you how their formula literally changed my daughter’s life.
If you’ve been following me for a while, it should come as no surprise that Elia has been formula-fed exclusively since she was about one month old. My decision to formula feed was one of the hardest choices I’ve ever had to make. I struggled internally and found myself slipping into a depression over it. When I came out the other side, I actually wrote all about my decision and shared it with the world. You can read about it here.
Once the decision was made, I started Elia on the formula that was given to me by the hospital. My thought was, if the hospital endorsed it, it has to be the best, right?
Well for Elia, that simply just wasn’t true.
Within a few days of starting Elia exclusively on the “hospital recommended” formula, she started to spit-up. Unfortunately, she started to spit-up A LOT. I’m not talking like a little spit-up here and there, I’m talking all day, every day. From the moment she woke up till the moment she went to bed, my entire house was covered in spit-up. Sorry for the gross details, but this is mommy-hood. She was also constantly crying with gas pains after eating. I felt horrible.
When I went to see my doctor, I was sure Elia had reflux and we were going to be prescribed some medication. Since she was still gaining weight, the doctor said there really wasn’t much to be done and the spit-up was more annoying for me than it was for her.
I felt defeated. I felt like a bad mom.
I decided to ask my friend, Michelle, who owns Bliss Newborn Care , to see if she had any ideas. She said that many of the mom’s she’s interacted with had tried Baby’s Only Organic formula and had great success. I decided to look into it and I started to realize some pretty astounding things.
Did you know most baby formula is made with high-fructose corn syrup containing GMOs? Did you know it’s usually the FIRST ingredient? You’d think that would have been something I realized, but no. Sadly I had no idea! Baby’s only is made with brown rice syrup which makes me feel a whole lot better because it’s naturally gluten-free, relatively non-allergenic (lowest of all grains) and a complex carbohydrate instead of a simple carb like sugar. The benefit of a complex carbohydrate (vs simple) is it has a slower rate of digestion, releases energy over time and really helps stabilize hunger levels. For me, that means Elia will sleep a little bit longer and grow big and strong!
Now, I’m not some crazy health-freak, trust me, but as a new mom, I feel like I want to know every single ingredient I am putting into my daughter’s body. I am responsible for her and I’m just trying to do the best I can. When I look at Nature’s One, I feel like I can succeed in keeping her body pure and healthy. The brand really realizes the importance of providing the highest quality formula possible and sets their ingredient standards really high. They source only the best organic ingredients and even use milk from organic family farms right here in the US.
I checked with my Doctor who gave me two big thumbs up and off I went! The transition was super simple. I just mixed Baby’s Only in with her current formula using this schedule:
- Day 1: 1/4 Baby’s Only and 3/4 Current Forumla
- Day 2: 1/2 Baby;s Only and 1/2 Current Formula
- Day 3: 3/4 Baby’s Only and 1/4 Current Forumla
- Day 4: A whole bottle of Baby’s Only
I decided on the Baby’s Only Organic Dairy Formula since Elia didn’t have any allergies. They also have other varieties including Soy and LactoRelief. It’s important to note that all of their formula says “toddler formula” because the company believes in breastfeeding (if possible) during the first year. According to my doctor, it is still safe for newborns through their first year as well.
Now, the best part of using Baby’s Only? Elia’s spitting-up and gas was almost gone after switching! It’s clear that the data/science could have told me that, but seeing it first hand made me a true believer.
I can’t express to you how much Baby’s Only changed everything for our family.
Love always,
Erica

What age was your daughter when you gave her Baby’s Only? I’ve read mix reviews on starting you baby on this formula before 1 year old. Thanks beautiful! 💕

Hi Erica,
I Just recently started using this formula and my son LOVES it, at first I gave him what we got from the hospital but he was also spitting up so much and after doing some research I found baby’s only and I am so grateful for it. My son was 3 months old when I started giving it to him after confirming with his doctor that it was safe.

Hi Erica! I have been struggling with milk supply and the whole breastfeeding experience hasn’t been great for me. Right now I’m exclusively pumping and it is very exhausting. I want to start supplementing with baby’s only however, I called my child pediatrician to get some advise and the nurse called me back and told me they only recommend encanille or similac they will not talk or give advise on othe brands… I’m a little discouraged now! I have been reading and comparing baby’s only with other formulas and this one is by far the best. I’m. Not sure if I should start supplementing at this point. My LO is 7 weeks now
