Happy Rosh Hashanah! For those of you who don’t know, I am Jewish and my favorite part of my culture is all the food we get to eat around the holiday time!
Tonight, I am cooking a small Rosh Hashanah dinner for my fiancé and I and I wanted to serve something really special to commemorate the new year. As a Jewish tradition, we are supposed to eat apples and honey on Rosh Hashanah to symbolize the hope for a sweet new year!
This year, I wanted to honor the tradition while integrating my passion for fun culinary creations. So, instead of serving plain apples and honey, tonight I am going to make a delicious and tangy apple and cheddar biscuit and drizzle them with sweet honey!
I’ve made them in the past and they have turned out delicious. The recipe is super simple.
Apple Cheddar Biscuits w/ Honey
Ingredients
- 2 cups Bisquick Mix
- 1/2 cup Water
- 3/4 cup Sharp Cheddar Cheese grated; + 2 tablespoons for topping
- 2 Small Apples diced
- Honey to drizzle
Instructions
- Pre-heat oven to 425 degrees. In a small pan, melt your butter over medium heat. Add your apples and sauté until soften (about 5 minutes).
- Combine your Bisquick, water, cheese (keep two tablespoons aside) and apples together.
- Place dough on a work surface (like a clean counter) and sprinkle a little bit of flour or Bisquick and knead dough 10 times.
- Roll dough out to about 1/2 inch thick and cut out your biscuits (should get about 9 depending on size of cutter). Top with remaining cheese.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes on an un-greased cookie sheet. Drizzle honey over the top when they are done!
These biscuits are SO delicious. Whether you’re celebrating the Jewish New Year or not…give them a try!
Love always,
Erica
