All things air-fryer have been a weekly if not daily part of my recipe creating. I can’t help it, when I find a hack I loved I can’t not roll with it. I grew up loving poptarts. I loved any and all flavors, now though, I can’t bring myself to buy them. With the high calories, and extra additives they’re just not worth it even when I find myself craving one. That’s why this air-fryer recipe might be one of my most fun to hack yet!
These guilt- free poptarts won’t have you throwing away your day’s calories or leave you with a post sugar tooth ache. PLUS they’re super easy and a fun decorating activity with the kids.
What You’ll Need (for poptarts):
2 Cups Self-Rising Flour
2 Cups Greek Yogurt
Strawberry Jam
Nutella
1 Banana
What You’ll Need (for glaze):
1/2 Cup Powdered Sugar
1 Tbsp Cream
1 Tsp Vanilla
Red Food Coloring
1 Tbsp warm water
Nutella
Rainbow sprinkles
What You’ll Do:
1. Start by combining the flour and greek yogurt to make your dough. Knead until it forms a ball then roll out onto floured surface and cut into 16 rectangles.
2. For your strawberry poptarts add a few teaspoons of strawberry jam onto 4 of the rectangles. Cover with another rectangle and pinch the sides closed with a fork.
3. For the Nutella poptarts add a few teaspoons of Nutella onto 4 rectangles and a few thin (must be very thin for this to work) slices of bananas. Cover with another rectangle and pinch the sides closed with a fork.
4. Airfry at 400 for about 8-10 minutes. Check at the halfway mark and flip. Because of the size you may only be able to get one or two done at a time. When finished let cool off to the side.
5. To make the strawberry glaze, combine 1/4 cup powdered sugar, cream, vanilla, and a drop of food coloring. When mixed, spread onto poptarts and top with sprinkles.
6. To finish up the Nutella poptarts combine the rest of the powdered sugar and warm water. Then spread onto poptarts, I chose to drizzle some extra Nutella and add sprinkles, because treat yourself.
7. Let the glaze harden a bit and they’re ready to serve!
I had so much fun making them and even more fun enjoying them guilt-free. I can’t wait to see how you decorate your own favorite childhood breakfast treat!
Love always,
Erica
