Over the weekend, I had an epiphany. I was heading out to dinner (for the 2nd time in 3 days) and I just felt awful. My clothes didn’t fit right and I was totally bloated. Honestly, I just wanted to crawl under a rock (I know we’ve all had those moments).
In that moment, I found myself saying, “Well, New Years is coming up so I will make it my New Years resolution to eat healthier and get in better shape.” This is when the moment of realization happened. Why do I need to wait until New Years?
I’m so sick of people saying “My New Years Resolution is to get in shape and eat healthier” (even though I do it myself). So that is why I am creating the “Everything Erica: Get Heathy BEFORE New Years Challenge.”
Here’s the deal:
If you want to join me on this challenge, I am going to start the Monday after Thanksgiving (I will be in Mexico before that and it will be too difficult to post) and end on New Years Eve. That’s 30 days to eat right, push yourself physically and get into a healthy mindset before the New Year even starts.
At the beginning of each week (and probably once mid-week) I will post a meal plan for the coming days. While you don’t have to follow-it, it will be a guide to make healthier choices. My diet is (and has been) a very low carbohydrate, high protein diet. I’ve fallen off the bandwagon since starting this blog and reviewing restaurants, but I am dedicated to making healthier decisions and pushing myself to work out just a little bit more. I will also post suggested workouts and set goals each week in order to make sure we are staying active.
I understand that Christmas, Chanukah and Holiday Parties will happen during this time frame and that can get tricky! Don’t worry! I will be providing tips and tricks to make good decisions during this time and even providing some guilt-free recipes to get you through :).
How it Will Work:
The best way to hold everyone accountable is to have a weekly tracker and point system.
Every Sunday, I will post my progress/points for the week and give you the opportunity to report yours. It will be based on a point system and you will tell me the number of points you earn for the week.
Each day, you can obtain the following points:
1 point for a healthy breakfast
1 point for a healthy lunch
2 point for a healthy dinner
1 point for each healthy snack you have (Up to 3)
2 points for a 30 minute workout
5 points for an hour workout
Basically, you get rewarded with points for making healthy decisions. If you slip up and have a bad snack, no worries! You just don’t get any points for it :).
Whoever has the most points at the end of the month will win a full feature story on my blog about their month of getting healthy AND a custom dinner party consultation to celebrate your acomplishments with me to help them plan a perfect dinner party!
